Piedmont Medical Center Trail
The Piedmont Medical Center trail offers scenic views of the Catawba River and a great location for outdoor activities. The trail is 10 ft. wide, and it is a 2.25 mile trail in and 2.25 mile back out. (It does not form a loop.) There are flat areas as well as uphill and downhill stretches with steep grades. Along the trail are benches, garbage cans, pet stations, and bridges. Restrooms are located at the parking lot.
The trail is a shared use trail allowing for walking, running and biking. Pets are allowed on a 3’ leash. The speed limit for bicycles is 10 mph. The trail is handicap accessible and monitored by park staff.
Part of a significant regional attraction, the Carolina Thread Trail system is a regional network of greenways and trails that will eventually reach 15 counties and 2.3 million citizens. A preservation of nature, culture, science and history, Riverwalk’s pristine beauty, abundance of wildlife and rich history help make the trail one of the most inviting segments. Hikers, walkers, joggers and serious runners can also enjoy spur trails while connecting to the amenities throughout the village.
